Welcome to SI 2014 and our always fabulous Youth Programming! We start with Bridging In right before Opening Ceremony, and then have an all-youth and parent-sponsor meeting that is MANDATORY immediately following Opening Ceremony right in the same venue. All Touch Groups will be assigned after that meeting, and will hold their first Touch Group Meeting immediately. Then everyone will converge in the youth-focused dorm lounge for a “Really-Frozen Freezie Pops” social to kick off our wonderful week. Monday morning programming begins in the exciting new space of Hales Gym and the Cat ‘n’ the Cream, when we get to work with our dynamic theme speaker – Leslie Parker Barnes!
New this year, housing is more intergenerational, and parents and sponsors will be more involved in supervising their youth outside of formal youth programming. BUT, our wonderfully tight-knit youth community will have a new outlet: we are creating a “night-angeled” late-night (12m-4 am) hangout space for senior high youth wanting the special community experiences that SI, late nights and lots of UU youth together can provide.
We can’t wait to see you and build the new traditions of SI at Oberlin while enjoying the old traditions that make SI and SI Youth Programming the special place it is!
